Although we pride ourselves in having a large local client base, our high standards have attracted business from across the whole of the UK and beyond, branching into Europe. New clients are allocated a dedicated manager within the office with whom they establish a working relationship. This ensures that there is a high degree of personal attention given to each client.
Leading the way to a more secure and environmentally friendly firm, we employ a specialist electronic document storage and tracking software company to implement a paperless office. Jonathan Parkin our Office Manager controls the continued improvement of all office procedures whilst also advising clients on the best computer packages to suit their needs.

Nick joined the practice in 1998 after qualifying at a local practice in Hull and became a partner of Finnies in 2002. Nick has a wide range of experience which he has acquired during his accounting career.
He specialises in dealing with the larger clients and the complexities that this brings, including forecasting, audit and acting as financial director to client companies. Nick has also been at the forefront of the tax planning strategies offered to clients.
His interests include spending time with his family and supporting Hull City. He has been a season ticket holder for over 25 years and he also follows them away from home. Nick’s furthest away trip was to Beijing to support them in a pre-season tournament.

Neil joined Finnies in April 2008 to work alongside Nick and after a year of working together bought in to the practice and became Director and shareholder in May 2009.
His history of accountancy began initially in a Beverley based firm as a trainee. He then progressed to a small firm in York where he qualified and became office Manager, after nine and half years Neil decided to move back to Beverley to progress his career and joined Finnies. Over his working life he has been involved in most aspects of accountancy and audit and for a period of time whilst in York he specialised in Business Start-ups, which is still a keen interest of his. As well as the day to day aspects of accountancy Neil now gets heavily involved in tax planning and tax strategies.
When he’s not working, Neil enjoys spending lots of time with his family. He also enjoys sporting activities such as badminton, swimming and pool.
Jonathan's role within the organisation is to take control of, and improve, the internal office procedures. He is responsible for the day to day running of the office and the team, reporting directly to Nick and Neil. Jonathan has a wide knowledge of Accountancy, Taxation and Payroll matters and has a high degree of knowledge on all the leading accounting packages such as Sage and QuickBooks. He is keen to advise clients on better ways to use the packages. Jonathan is currently undertaking education modules regarding Tax Strategies that are beneficial for Contractors and Directors.
Helen joined the firm as an employee in January 2009 after coming to us on a temporary contract. Helen trained in a medium sized practice in Leeds were she developed a high knowledge of accountancy and audit procedures.Helen also has a high degree of knowledge in relation to the market leading accounting software such as Sage and is always keen to answer questions in this field.
Marie joined the team in 2008 whilst still studying and became AAT qualified in 2010. Her main role within the firm is accounts preparation and Self Assessment Tax returns. She is highly competent in completing VAT returns. Marie enjoys new challenges and plans to continue her studies and add to her qualifications and experience.
Hannah joined the practice in October 2009; she initially started as part of our efficient administration team dealing with all aspects of day to day admin. Her previous experience made her the perfect candidate to take the lead role in the move to our ‘paperless office’.As this is now very much operational and self efficient, Hannah has turned her attentions to more accounts based tasks. She has become highly competent at book-keeping thanks to her knowledge of Sage and Iris, which has led Hannah to preparing VAT returns. Hannah’s other tasks include the running of monthly payroll and the preparation of numerous company secretarial forms. Hannah will be working to expand her knowledge and involvement within the accounts department over the coming months.
Debbie joined Finnies after completing her A-levels in 1996 and following successful completion of her AAT, qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2002. Debbie’s role within the office is varied covering all aspects of accounting, auditing, book-keeping, payroll and forecasting.Debbie also has a good working knowledge of Sage, Pegasus and QuickBooks and enjoys assisting clients with their day-to-day accounting requirements.
Lorraine has been part of our team at Finnies since 1995. Her main duties are preparing payroll and VAT returns, her expertise means that she is often called upon to advise and guide our clients on these specialised areas.
Jack joined the practice in September 2009 after completing a BSc Hons in Accounting at Hull University, and he is currently in the professional stage of his ACCA qualification. Whilst at university, Jack worked part-time in two local accountancy practices gaining vital experience to complement his degree. His main roles in the office include the preparation of accounts, personal tax return, VAT returns and management accounts. These tasks often require Jack to spend significant amounts of time at clients’ premises, assisting them with a multitude of day to day accountancy requirements. He has a wide knowledge of many relevant accountancy software packages including Sage and Iris. Jack is also a valued member of the audit team and regularly assists on our statutory audits which are overseen by our audit manager and audit director.

Emma has recently joined us she previously worked in industry for a local Hull based firm. Emma’s new role will be to share the administration role with Hannah and take on a training position within the accounts department. Emma will be starting her AAT qualification in September to aid her with her Accounts, VAT and Payroll work. Emma already has a degree of knowledge in bookkeeping from her previous jobs and is familiar with the Sage packages including Sage 200. Over the coming months Emma will be looking at building on her foundations within Accountancy.
Our admin team are very friendly and are always happy to assist in any way they can.
Gail has been with the firm for over 20 years providing admin support to the directors, however this is now on a part-time basis. She has experience in payroll, VAT and accounts preparation.
